Mouse Polling Rate Checker
Measure your mouse USB polling report rate (125Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, 4000Hz, 8000Hz) in real time. Move your cursor inside the test area below to calculate report frequency, peak Hz, and packet interval jitter.
Mouse Polling Rate (Hz) Benchmark Guide & FAQs
Mouse Polling Rate (measured in Hertz / Hz) indicates how many times per second your mouse reports its physical position coordinates to your computer.
High-polling rate gaming mice (such as the Razer Viper V4 Pro, Razer Viper V3 Pro, and Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2) behave differently in web browsers due to two key technical reasons:
- Browser Event Batching (Coalescing): Web browsers do not fire JavaScript events 8,000 times per second to prevent overloading CPU threads. Chromium batches micro-reports into single frame ticks (~240Hz–500Hz). Our test uses the W3C Coalesced Pointer Events API to extract these sub-millisecond sub-packet timestamps directly from your mouse driver!
- Mouse Motion Velocity Requirement: Wireless 8000Hz mice conserve wireless battery by only transmitting at 8000 reports/sec when moved rapidly across your mousepad. Moving your mouse slowly or moderately will cause the mouse MCU to report at 500Hz–1000Hz. To see true 4000Hz–8000Hz peak rates, move your mouse in fast, continuous circles!
At 1000Hz, your mouse sends position updates every 1.0 ms. At 4000Hz, updates are sent every 0.25 ms. At 8000Hz, updates are sent every 0.125 ms. Higher polling rates significantly reduce micro-stuttering and cursor position delay on 240Hz, 360Hz, and 540Hz gaming monitors.
Yes. Processing 8,000 interrupts per second requires a fast multi-core CPU (such as AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Intel Core i7/i9). Make sure Windows Raw Input / High-Input Precision is enabled in games like Valorant and CS2 for optimal smooth performance.
